The services we deliver are diverse – as is our multidisciplinary workforce.

With our head office based in Bolton town centre, we employ over 400 staff in a variety of clinical and non-clinical roles, based in a variety of locations across Bolton and beyond.

Covid Vaccination Programme

In December 2019 we began the delivery of the Covid vaccination programme on behalf of five of Bolton’s Primary Care Networks throughout our communities in designated sites and our COVID Vaccine Bus.

We continue to support delivery of the COVID vaccination programme on behalf of four of Bolton’s Primary Care Networks; Central, Chorley Roads, Halliwell and Rumworth.

This involves:

  • Delivering first and second doses and boosters
  • Delivering vaccines in the community in our Health Hive and out and about on the streets in our Mobile Health Hive. 
  • Setting up and running designated sites that meet NHSE standards and requirements
  • To support the service we employ a huge team of clinicians, pharmacists, vaccinators, runners, receptionists and admin support staff
  • We provide volunteering opportunities in our vaccine clinics (See our Volunteers page for more information)
  • Working closely with Greater Manchester to ensure vaccine supply meets demand
  • Working in partnership with Bolton NHS FT to deliver vaccines to 12-15 year olds in schools

Winter Surge Hub

We currently provide this year’s Winter Surge Hub to support the system during the high-demand winter period.

The service will run from the Bolton Primary Care Hub / Health Hive, Chorley Street, Bolton, BL1 4AL.

Patients can book an appointment in this service by contacting their own GP Practice.

Appointments are available:

Monday to Saturday from 10 November 2025 through to 6 April 2026.

ED Support Service

Delivered in partnership with Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, this winter pressures initiative placed General Practice clinicians at the front door of Royal Bolton Hospital’s Emergency Department.

The service supported patients with non-emergency conditions to access the most appropriate care, including same-day GP appointments, community pharmacy services, and other local healthcare options, helping to reduce pressure on urgent and emergency care services.

Impact

  • Improved access to primary care during periods of high demand
  • Reduced unnecessary Emergency Department attendances
  • Supported patient flow and hospital capacity during winter pressures
  • Strengthened integration between primary and secondary care services
